Lemon Lime and Bitters

Australia's pub refresher: lemonade, lime and a coat of Angostura

Number of people

Ingredients

  • 6 dashesAngostura Bitters
Swirled to coat the glass; a couple more over the top for color
    Substitute: Any aromatic bitters
  • 5 ozLemon-Lime Soda
Sprite-style soda or cloudy lemonade, well chilled
Substitute: Half lemonade, half soda water for a drier glass
  • 1/2 ozLime Cordial
    The traditional pub pour
Substitute: Half a fresh lime, squeezed

Instructions

  1. Dash the Angostura bitters into a highball glass and swirl to coat the inside

Tip out any excess — the pink coat is what makes an LLB

  2. Fill the glass with ice and add the lime cordial
  3. Top with chilled lemon-lime soda and give one gentle stir

    Gentle — keep the fizz

  4. Garnish with a lime wheel

Technique Notes

Swirl the bitters around the glass before building — the coat is the drink
