Technique Notes

Two dashes of Fernet per serving is almost a rinse, and it is enough. A bar-spoon pour takes the drink over entirely.

Why the Hanky Panky Works

Two dashes of Fernet per serving, almost a rinse, is enough to transform a sweet Martini into something with menthol-bitter depth. Gin and sweet vermouth carry the botanical spine; Fernet supplies the aromatic finish that lingers after the swallow. Bitterness as a structural accent, not a flavour.
