Why the Earl Grey MarTEAni Works
Earl Grey-infused gin brings bergamot, which is itself a citrus oil, so the lemon juice and the orange bitters reinforce rather than introduce the citrus character. Dry vermouth keeps the drink savoury where the tea wants to read sweet, and the small dose of simple syrup lets the bergamot bloom without going perfumey.
