Honey-Herb Mule
A herbal mule: wine-soft amaro with honey, lengthened with lime and ginger beer
Ingredients
- 1/2 ozLime JuiceFresh
- 4 ozGinger BeerSpicy style preferredSubstitute: Ginger ale for a milder glass
- 1 1/2 ozCardamaroCardoon-and-thistle wine amaroSubstitute: Any light amaro
- 1/2 ozHoney SyrupHoney and water 1:1Substitute: Agave syrup
Instructions
- Fill a mule mug with ice
- Add amaro, lime juice and honey syrup
- Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wheel and mint
Technique Notes
Use a honey syrup rather than neat honey. Straight honey will not dissolve in a cold build and sits in a lump at the bottom.
Why the Honey-Herb Mule Works
Ginger's heat plays off the cardoon and thistle herbs while lime keeps it bright; a wine-based amaro keeps the mule low in proof and easy to drink long.
