Italian aperitivo of Campari and lager topped with soda — the beer cousin of the wine-based classic
Ingredients
- 1 (1.0 ) Lemon WheelCut thin and dropped into the glass
- 4 oz (118 ml) LagerCrisp Italian lager or pilsner, very cold
- 1 oz (29.6 ml) Soda WaterA short splash to lift the carbonation
- 2 oz (59.1 ml) CampariChilled, poured over ice first
Instructions
- Fill a chilled wine glass or tumbler with ice
Glass pre-chilled in the freezer is ideal
- Pour 2 oz Campari over the ice
- Top slowly with 4 oz cold lager, tilting the glass to preserve the head
Both Campari and beer should be very cold
- Add a short splash (about 1 oz) of soda water to lift the carbonation
- Stir once from the bottom with a barspoon to integrate without killing the foam
- Drop a thin lemon wheel into the glass and serve
